Courtney Bass Sherizen is the Chief Talent and Culture Officer at the Wikimedia Foundation.
Prior to joining Wikimedia, Courtney was a Director of People Operations at Google. While at Google, Courtney created the Global HR Crisis Management Office and was a Lead People Partner, coaching and advising over 100 senior leaders across the organization.
Courtney began her career as an 11th grade English teacher with Teach For America in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following that, she founded a travel consultancy in Beijing and, in her spare time, had acting roles in Chinese soap operas. Courtney has also supported leaders in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors as a management consultant for Monitor Deloitte. Her work centered in developing strategies for a major US health insurer, a global consumer goods organization, a defense arm of the US government and a national non-profit.
Courtney holds a B.A. in History from Harvard College. In college, she received a certificate in African Studies and was selected as her graduating Class Day speaker. She also has a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a Certificate in Organizational Leadership and Coaching from Northwestern University. Courtney sits on the Board of Directors of the Donors of Color Network and Beta Financial Services. She is based in Las Vegas, Nevada where she lives with her husband and son.
